Who’s Playing Tonight – Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2025-09-10

Overview

- Purpose: Who’s Playing Tonight is a jazz event listing app. You can browse events without creating an account, making reservations, or submitting personal information to us.

- Summary: We don’t run our own user databases and we don’t collect or store personal data on our servers. Third‑party providers (listed below) may process device identifiers (e.g., IP address, Advertising ID) and usage data for ads and analytics. Under GDPR/CPRA, these identifiers may be considered personal data and are processed according to each provider’s policies.

Information We Collect

- No accounts: You do not need an account to use the app, and we do not collect login credentials.

- Device/usage data: Device information and app usage events are collected by third‑party analytics/ads providers on our behalf (e.g., device type, app version, interactions). See providers below.

- Location for region selection: The app may request approximate location permission to help suggest your local region. Location data is used on-device for this purpose; we do not store your precise location on our servers. We may log the selected region in analytics as an event (not precise coordinates).

- No payment or contact details: We do not collect names, email addresses, mailing addresses, credit card numbers, or other direct identifiers.

In‑App Purchases (Ad Removal)

- Platform-handled: Ad removal purchases are currently available on iOS only and are processed by Apple. We do not process or store payment information.

- Local state only: We store a simple, device-local setting indicating whether ad removal is active. We do not maintain purchase records on our servers.

Advertising & Analytics Providers

- Google AdMob (react-native-google-mobile-ads): Serves banner ads. AdMob may process device identifiers, IP address, and app usage to provide and measure ads. The app requests non-personalized ads by default where supported.

- Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase): Collects aggregated usage analytics and error events (e.g., feature usage, basic diagnostics). We do not collect user accounts or direct identifiers.

- Firebase Crashlytics: Collects crash diagnostics (e.g., device and OS details, app version, stack traces) to help us investigate stability issues. No user-submitted content is captured.

- Meta/Facebook SDK (install attribution only): Used to attribute installs and basic app activation events. Where permitted by your device settings, the SDK may access advertising identifiers for attribution.

Data Retention

- Our servers: We do not store personal data.

- Third parties: Advertising and analytics providers may retain device and analytics data under their own retention policies (see their privacy pages above).

Data Security and Breach

- Limited scope: Because we do not store personal data on our servers, breach risk for personal data primarily relates to third‑party providers. Any incidents involving those providers are governed by their security practices and notifications.

Your Choices and Controls

- Personalized ads: Limit/reset your device’s advertising identifier and turn off ad personalization in device settings (e.g., “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS; “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android). AdMob respects these settings.

- Analytics controls: Some platforms provide app‑level analytics controls. You can also uninstall the app to stop data collection.

- Region/location: You can deny location permission and manually choose a region in settings; the app remains functional.

California (CCPA/CPRA) and GDPR

- Sale/Sharing: We do not sell personal information. Third‑party advertising and analytics providers may process device‑level data (such as advertising identifiers) for ad delivery/measurement, which may be considered “sharing” under CPRA. You can opt out of personalized advertising via your device settings, as noted above.

- EU legal bases: For essential analytics and functionality, we rely on legitimate interests. For advertising personalization, providers rely on your device‑level settings and applicable consent flows where required.

- Requests: Because we do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers, we generally have limited ability to identify or fulfill data access/deletion requests directly. You may exercise rights directly with the relevant providers through their tools and your device settings. You can also contact us using the details below, and we will assist where we can.

Children’s Privacy

- Our app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Push Notifications

- We use Firebase Cloud Messaging push notifications to send service updates, feature announcements, and regional alerts.

- Notifications are optional; you can disable them at any time in your device settings.

- We may organize notifications into broad topics such as region or subscription status. These groupings rely on in-app preferences and do not involve storing personal identifiers on our servers.

Changes to This Policy

- We may update this policy to reflect changes in our app or legal requirements. We will post the updated version in the app and update the effective date above.
